I have listed here some info for interested parties who wish to train and work in the ROV industry.

To become a qualified (Grade 1) ROV Technician you will need to undergo a IMCA approved training course.

 http://www.mtcs.info or http://www.theunderwatercentre.co.uk another is http://www.subserv.com they differ only in the time spent on the course and how much they cost but to work Offshore you will also need to do an offshore survival course, http://www.petans.co.uk and have an offshore medical done, this can be done at the north sea medical centre in Gorleston Norfolk UK or any other centre approved by the offshore oil and gas industry.

Courses for grade 2 lowest entry level are around £3800 or there about's and a total cost could be as much as £9000 after doing grade 1 and you'll still need employment after that.

These companies may pay for your course but you will need to work for them for a minimum 1 year

Rates for Pilot tech with a good background will be around £220 a day to start

Rates for Submersible Engineer will be around £300

Rates for Supervisors will be around £400

This can be day rate or half on contract split over 12 month and half as day rate.

contracts are normally either 120 ,156 or 180 days.

Agencies pay higher rates and there is a lot of work around at the moment but you have to pay for everything yourself. Your rates go up when you either pass another exam (plus time in the industry) or a position is offered to you dependent on your experience.

As someone who knows in my opinion its better to study and do the exams and competencies, that way your not reliant on any company or body. Rates go up to around £500 a day for offshore project Supervisor or if you go down the cswip 3.4 U road but that's data recording
